The diplomat reminded that sambo is a type of martial arts, developed in the 1920-40s in the Soviet Union as a popular sport and training system for law enforcement officers.

“Nowadays sambo is being developed in 120 countries throughout the world, including Vietnam. Though Vietnamese Sambo Association is a fairly new organization, its trainees demonstrate quite good results: at Asian Beach Games in Da Nang in summer 2016 the Vietnamese national team came second in team scoring, having won one gold, two silver and two bronze medals”, - emphasized the Ambassador.

The head of the main department of sport at the Vietnamese Ministry of culture, sports and tourism Vuong Binh Thanh thanked FIAS for support and assistance in sports development in the SRV.
