Azerbaijani sambo wrestler will earn 143 thousand dollars if he wins a gold medal

The President of Azerbaijan has signed an order to establish awards for Azerbaijani athletes who will take prizes at the first European Games in Baku.

Each athlete who takes the first place will receive 150 thousand manat (143 thousand dollars): 100 thousand manat (95,5 thousand dollars) from the State and 50 thousand manat (47,5 thousand dollars) from the Head of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev who has allocated this amount from the National Olympic Committee (NOC) Foundation. The personal coach of the winner of the European Games will receive a total of 75 thousand manat (71,5 thousand dollars).

Each athlete who takes the second place will receive from the State and the NOC Foundation a total of 80 thousand manat (76,3 thousand dollars), and their personal coaches - 40 thousand manat (38,15 thousand dollars). Awards to bronze prize winners will consist of 50 thousand manat (47,5 thousand dollars), their coaches will receive 25 thousand manat (23,8 thousand dollars).

Each athlete in team sports will receive for the first place 45 thousand manat (43 thousand dollars), for the second - 30 thousand manat (28,6 thousand dollars), for the third - 15 thousand manat (14,3 thousand dollars).

«Obviously, we are expecting high achievements in sports, where Azerbaijani athletes traditionally have good results: wrestling, judo, taekwondo, shooting. We hope to get quite a lot of medals, » the First Vice-President of the NOC of Azerbaijan Chinghiz Huseynzade said in interview to the “Kavkazskiy uzel” edition.
