Sambo wrestlers gather at Kid Chocolate in Cuba

The Kid Chocolate sports center (pictured) in front of El Capitolio on the Paseo de Marti in central Havana regularly hosts boxing matches. Kid Chocolate was the nickname of the legendary Cuban boxer Eligio Sardiñas Montalvo, who became famous in the 1930s. Sambo wrestlers will join boxers there from February 2 to 4, when Kid Chocolate will be holding a seminar for Sambo coaches.

The full name of the event is something like "methodological seminar on managing the training process in Sambo". The organizers say that by the end of the seminar, all participants will be able to plan and manage their athletes' training process, with consideration of the characteristics of the competition, and the theoretical and methodological principles that contribute to the preparation process.

The full name of the event is something like "methodological seminar on managing the training process in Sambo".

Based on the above, it's clear that the Cuban Association of Sambo and Related Disciplines is taking a very responsible approach to organizing this event and to the development of Sambo in the country as whole. It should be noted that the seminar is open to all Sambo coaches interested in gaining knowledge that will enable them to manage the training process. Participants will receive the appropriate certificates at the end of the seminar.

By the way, the instructors will be able to apply theory to practice the day after the end of the seminar. On February 5 and 6, another landmark institution — a club in Havana named after Julio Antonio Mella (the founder of the Communist Party of Cuba) — will host an Open Sport Sambo Championship among men and women. Athletes from clubs belonging to the Cuban Association of Sambo and Related Disciplines are invited to take part in the tournament. The competition will also be open to athletes representing the Pan-American Sambo Federations.
